Esoterism

Esoterism sometimes gets a bad rap. Skeptics may call it pseudoscience or even superstition, but science as we know it wouldn't be the same without it. Before the Renaissance, or "Age of Enlightenment," it was quite common for people to try and make meaning out of what the natural world seemed to be saying. A certain intelligence does seem to emanate from nature's intricacies, does it not? When so much in the natural world seems predictable- the sunrise or the seasons, where does the randomness of a life-saving rain or a never-before-seen snake fit into the grand scheme of things? We want answers.

Philosophies, and even language itself, are borne of our attempts to communicate about that which is seen or unseen with one another. It is easy enough to point to a bear or a tornado coming your way and know to what one is referring, but what about a pain in your tooth or what you just saw "over there?" It's a remarkable thing we ever learned to converse, much less explore, predict what was seemingly unpredictable, or form societies that seem to have some semblance of order and productivity. Just as the natural world evolves to adapt and survive, online spiele free so does Man's knowledge. No one wants to re-invent the wheel, here.

And, so it goes that we have passed along the knowledge we have acquired to our children, our peers, and future generations by way of spoken word and written literature. Often times, being called "materialistic" is considered an insult; being overly consumed with the physical world denies our basic humanity, our compassion, our feelings, our need to connect with one another. Yet, we would no doubt consider a person who has no regard for his or her physical survival or environment a little "out there." Esoterism is man's attempt to merge these two worlds, the seen and the unseen into a cohesive whole.
